MetroPCS Working On LTE Phones
InformationWeek - Manhasset,
NY, USA
Metro is working on 4G wireless! If
they
can pull it off, and offer up some interesting services to make use of
the
speed, it should be interesting. Perhaps
this also foreshadows a prepaid broadband offering
as well?
Danica
Patrick's Andretti Green Racing IndyCar Reveals New
Look (source article removed)
Earthtimes (press
release) - London,
UK
Boost Mobile is seeking to expand its demographic with a Danica
sponsorship. It
will be interesting to
see how this new positioning resonates with Danica’s fan base.
Boost Mobile Overwhelmed By
Texters
InformationWeek - Manhasset,
NY, USA
The popularity of its new unlimited plan basically crippled
Boost’s text
messaging platform. Rumors
are that the
issues are now solved; what’s your experience?
Prepaid Wireless Is the New Cheap Chic
Seeking Alpha - New York,
NY, USA
Let’s face it, being wise with
money
and paying only for services you use is just plain smart. Prepaid makes sense in any
economy!
Sprint's
Boost Mobile Service Could Challenge Top-Tier Players (source article removed)
Wall Street
Journal - USA
Prepaid subscriber growth proved to
outpace postpaid in Q1. Some
say that
when the economy recovers this trend will reverse, however, I predict
that the
economic state only accelerated the inevitable migration to a prepaid
dominant
nation; only time will tell!
Prepaid wireless service
could spur price warCNN International - USA
With
the
popularity of prepaid, and the increasingly competitive plans and
handset
portfolios now
available, postpaid carriers must be thinking about
pricing. One can
only hope that pricing
stabilizes at a level that is profitable for carriers; if not,
we’re looking at
major consolidation, which often leads to inevitable long term price
increases
due to competitive attrition.
AT&T to Offer Prepaid
Unlimited Nationwide Calling for $3 per Day
AT&T offers a new daily unlimited plan.
Is it just me, or is the offer wholly
uninspiring compared to what else is currently available? To compare current offers,

page.
Boost
Mobile Tapped as 2009 North American Prepaid
Mobile Service (source article removed)
Trading Markets
(press release)
- Los
Angeles, CA,
USA
Boost wins the prize for Prepaid Mobile Service of the year. Don’t get me
wrong, it’s a great offering;
however, I’m not sure that introducing an all-you-can-eat
plan at a great price
(and no extra fees) is deserving of any awards, but that’s
just me.
Cheaper
iPhone Plans from AT&T?
BusinessWeek - USA
The prospect of a prepaid iPhone
offering with a
reasonable upfront handset cost; what more can I say!
