Straight Talk is the Best

I got the Straight Talk unlimited plan at Walmart a few months ago and I'm very happy with it. Since the plan has unlimited web I got a Samsung Finesse R810 touchscreen phone with data access. This phone also has a slide-out keyboard. This was an important feature for me since I don't like touchscreen texting. One of the advantages of this plan, which seems to be some secret Straight Talk doesn't share, is unlimited 411 calls in addition to unlimited voice, text and web. So, when it comes to value for money, it's my opinion that for $45 a month, this is the best prepaid plan available right now. Another thing Straight Talk doesn't seem to advertise, but which I read in more than one online article, is it runs on the Verizon network.

Since I haven't used every unlimited plan out there, I don't think I'm
in a position to say mine is best. I can only say that I've been
satisfied with Straight Talk since I got the plan, which was partly
because I knew it runs on the Verizon network, but mostly because of
price. I've read up on just about every prepaid plan and there are a
few good ones, but I haven't seen any other plan but Straight Talk
offer unlimited voice, text, web, plus 411 calls for as little as $45.
I'm willing to listen to anyone who disputes that, though that's not
saying I'm willing to switch.

I just wanted to add that Straight Talk has been incredibly successful since its launch. They launched as a very simple offer, and added services and phone options, including smartphones (and the iPhone) over time.

Their slow and steady evolution has been incredibly successful. So much so that in Oct of last year Target launched a similar program called Brightspot powered by T-Mobile. It still remains to be seen whether Brightspot can achieve similar success as Walmart's Straight Talk.

Ah me too! I switched from contract phone with AT&T to prepaid phone with Tracfone/Straight Talk. It is $45 a month for unlimited talk, text, data, no overage fees, no cancellation, no activation fees. BEST PART IS -- It's on America's most reliable network. Gotta share with everyone that I saved $45 on this month as opposed to last month when it came to cell phone usage. Love it!

Definitely a good point! Just a quick note that most prepaid wireless providers offer autopay/auto topup. Customers using this type of service are typically the most valuable customers b/c, as you noted, you never miss a payment!


Just remember if you move, or if you get a new card with a new expiration date, to update your autopay information on your prepaid wireless account!

@gotitright - I was also pretty much sold with the auto-refill as well. After getting my phone. I just set up my online account, and now I don't think about anything other than using my phone and texting my friends :)

Their motto is, "Everything you need in a cell phone without a contract." They do offer a good deal, but so do some of the other prepaid companies. A few things sold me on Straight Talk. The choice of plans and the coverage networks. They also make it easy to take care of refilling your account. You can enroll in an auto refill account so you don't need to worry about remembering to do it. If you do forget, you lose your service and probably your number.

Straight Talk is definitely a great value. When it was first announced, I was excited to see that it's on the Verizon network. Between Straight Talk and Page Plus, Verizon has some pretty strong prepaid offerings.


I don't get too excited about 411 being included, as there are free 411 services available. ex. Google 411 (1-800-GOOG-411), and 1-800-FREE-411. However, with or without free 411, it's still a great value.


One thing to consider is whether or not Straight Talk will allow you to activate a Verizon phone (assuming the phone is legitimately out of contract with Verizon)? I don't believe it is allowed. On the other hand, Page Plus will activate any Verizon phone, which is nice until the time where prepaid handsets have caught up to what is available on postpaid.


But at the end of the day, great point...it's a great offer for people to consider!
